Food was super flavorful, place was super cute inside, and they were so sweet when accommodating my online order. I accidentally ordered two drunken noodles instead of one drunken noodles and one pad Thai and they had no problem changing it for me when I called in and the order was ready 10 minutes after that! Super fast service and for that we will be back. The food was great, HOWEVER, the pad Thai I got was SO spicy. They had mild, medium, spicy, very spicy, and ver very spicy listed as the options online. I chose spicy, and to be honest it felt very very spicy. I'm someone that can handle spice pretty well, but this was alllllmost inedible to me as it was so hot so be warned! Nonetheless it was flavorful and I will be back just maybe at a medium spice level LOL.
3.5 rounded up. Good casual lunch and I suppose dinner spot if you're in the area but probably wouldn't go out of my way to get here. I've only come for lunch since it's convenient and satisfies my Thai food cravings. Kao soi w/beef- tasty and big portion, however, the beef was a bit tough and there wasn't enough. I ordered from the regular (not the lunch) menu and it didn't say the beef was an extra $1 but it showed up on the bill. I do love the crunchy noodles on top and the noodles really soak up the sauce. Kao soi w/chicken- flavor is consistent with the beef kao soi and consistent with the amount of meat as well (not much). I think I slightly prefer the chicken over the beef though since the chicken wasn't as tough and no extra mark up. I'd get this again. Fresh spring rolls- tasted as fresh as it sounds. Came with 4 pieces and I liked the peanut dipping sauce it came with. Wouldn't mind getting this again. Chicken satay- this also came with 4 pieces and peanut sauce with some sweet pickled cucumbers. The cucumbers were a bit too sweet for me and the chicken was a bit too dry. I'd probably pass on this in the future. Shaking beef- tasty, tender, big portion, ordered from regular menu to share family style but it comes as a lunch special with rice.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in the San Carlos, Belmont area. Staff is always friendly. They know us by now. We have been eating here for many years. Food is consistently delicious. Portions are adequate for the price and prices are always fair. We eat there for lunch and also for dinner. Service and food is consistent both times, whether they are busy or not. The owner is usually on site and always checks in to ask if everything is ok. Never had a complaint. Beautiful decor, clean, spacious and calm. We are always lucky finding street parking right at the restaurant. They accommodate large parties and manage to get the food to all of us in a timely fashion. I have observed other large parties while dining there and could see how satisfied the guests were. We have not used their catering, but I am sure it is as wonderful as everything else they do. We live in San Francisco and make up reasons to go to San Carlos so we can eat at Tamarind Thai. We have a group of about 8-15 people and have had several holiday parties there over the years. Some of our members eat there regularly to celebrate their own events. Can't say enough good things about Tamarind Thai. Try it, I am sure you will enjoy yourself. ~Tina
For a lazy evening when it's cold and raining. Nothing is better than a Thai Togo. We ordered 3 different kinds of food today. 1. Satay Chicken- I give it 4/5 it was warm, and it had good flavor. But I wish it was more juicy. I bet it could be 5/5 in the restaurant. 2. Tom Yum Soup- 5/5. This was an amazing soup with perfect amount of spice, lemongrass, ginger. 3. Curry noodles- 5/5 it was the best dish for tonight. The perfect combination of sweet spicy and crispy noodles. We can't wait to go to the restaurant and try more food. Let's not forget the service they gave us. The good food arrived right in time. Under 30 mins. Unbelievable!!!
Hands down the best Thai in this area. We came in for a table of 27 & they happily took care of us. The food was legit! Every one of us loved what we ordered. Their shaken beef, pad Thai and pad gra pow were phenomenal!
4.5 stars really but after a really bad experience with a different restaurant, I was glad to see some really strong professionalism from Thai Tamarind. Ordered through Grubhub and pick up was a breeze, I was in and out in less than 30 seconds. Really grateful for this as my lunch is only 30 minutes long. When I walked in I noticed they had really beautiful decor and the low light gave the restaurant a particularly lovely ambience. Even though I was only there for a bit, I noticed how spotless this restaurant was, if they said they were taking pictures for a food magazine that day, I would've believed it. The lady that helped me was cheerful and kind, you could just tell she had really good customer service. The food was very flavorful, the first thing I did when I opened my pad thai was to smell if they put any tamarind, a lot of places don't and I was delighted that they did. I put on max spiciness for this and the tom yum soup I ordered and it never over powered the flavors, it had a really good kick that your body feels more than your tastebuds. That's when you know a chef is talented with spices. -.5 stars because I got the pad thai with shrimp and for an extra 3 bucks, you'd think they'd give more than 5 pieces of shrimp, but the food was bomb so I'm fine with it.
We were met with well above average service. Being attentive to our needs and witnessed the same being true of other diners experience as well. We had six different dishes, some highlights; each dish did not skimp on the protein (even the philo dough wrapped shrimp had mostly shrimp), the curries plentiful with tofu and pork portions being generous, and lastly all three chicken noodle dishes had a great balance of vegetables, meat, and noodles. One area to consider for personal preference is your heat level preference. We order as described in menu and it was not overly heat stricken on the palate but if you are used to or prefer spicy you'll want to ask for it. The fried banana with ice cream was spot on. Not overly greasy in any way and remained crispy.
My wife and I have been coming here over the last few years. We saw this place consistently friendly, fast service and was very nice upstanding ambience. For the food we have never been disappointed. Tonight's dinner started with the fresh spring rolls, which were delicious, then two different soups, which were so tasty and wonderful. I think this is definitely a Thai restaurant worth going to.
Quick take: very good service I've ordered take out and dined in. Very good service both ways. This place is in my neighborhood. I walk here to pick up food when I'm wfh. Love their Thai iced tea for a midday pick me up. My favorite dish is the eggplant and tofu. I also like the Tom yum soup and rice during the cold winter days. A lot of vegetarian options too. Looking forward to trying more dishes.
